Jewelry box leather is judged at the corner, not on the flat. A 0.4 mm sheet that turns a 3 mm radius without blooming white decides whether a lid reads as hand-finished.
The thickness ladder is narrow. 0.4 mm wraps sharp radii on ring boxes, trays and inserts. 0.5 mm is the working gauge for lid and base wraps, where body hides the board edge. 0.6 mm holds a watch case without the board telegraphing through.
The top coat is anchored to a microfiber nonwoven base, not a knitted cloth, so the fold does not pull the coating off its backing and the panel does not relax after wrapping. Surface comes fine-grained or suede-napped, both matte, both taking hot-foil stamping without a halo around the die.

Corner turns without whitening. The 0.4 mm sheet folds a 3 mm radius and the coating stays with the base instead of fracturing at the crease. That is the difference between a lid that photographs cleanly and one with a pale line at every corner.
PVC-free, no plasticizer to fog silver. No plasticizer is present to migrate into foam inserts or deposit on plated parts inside a closed box. Odor is low, which matters when the box is opened in a retail cabinet.

Which thickness for a 3 mm corner radius on a ring box lid? 0.4 mm. Above that the sheet needs a relief cut or a larger radius, and the corner shows a pale crease line under retail lighting.
Will the leather fog silver or tarnish plated parts in a closed box? Not from plasticizer migration, because the sheet is PVC-free. Sulfur and moisture are the other causes, so keep insert foam and board to the same low-sulfur spec and test a full box, not a loose swatch.
Which adhesive should the box workshop use? Water-based PVA or a hot-melt web. Solvent contact adhesive attacks the top coat and shows through thin 0.4 mm material within weeks.
Can it take hot-foil stamping for the brand logo? Yes, on both surfaces. Send die depth and foil type with the sample request; surface density is adjusted so the stamp does not halo on the nap.
How do you keep lid, base and tray matching on one box? Cut all three from one lot and one roll direction. Colour is matched to your approved swatch, and the lot number stays on the core label for repeats.
